The Mandalorian becomes TMDb's most popular TV Show to date

With data on TV shows airing as far back as December 9th, 1960, TMDb's TV data is very revealing.

Popularity is determined by a number of factors listed below:
  • Number of votes for the day
  • Number of views for the day
  • Number of users who marked it as a "favourite" for the day
  • Number of users who added it to their "watchlist" for the day
  • Next/last episode to air date
  • Number of total votes
  • Previous days score
With obvious spikes in popularity from classics such as The Simpsons and The Walking Dead, the last decade has seen an average popularity rating 11 points higher than all shows recorded from 1960-2009. Has marketing gotten better or are people watching more TV than before? Probably both wouldn't ya know: (Marketing Spend Stats) and (TV Consumption).

Arrow (233.3 rating) and Rick and Morty (303.7) saw huge jumps in popularity during their first air dates in 2012 and 2013 while some may have not realized that Game of Thrones (85.6 rating) was not very popular when it first aired in 2011, relative to its later seasons. Nothing, however, has matched The Mandalorian as Baby Yoda uses The Force to bring Jon Favreau's 2019 Disney Plus series all the way to the moon (520.5 rating). Its high score is likely a partial result of the hype leading up to the release of Disney Plus.
