Not too long ago I wrote a post on how much total revenue Endgame would generate by the time it's pulled from theaters.
Now that version 2 of the movie is coming out, which is basically bait to get more money, I thought I'd look back at how far off I was from the original film's total global revenue.
As of June 23rd, 2019, Avengers: Endgame (2019) has generated $2,749,603,966 in global revenue according to IMDB.
Using a model with only 4 data points, my closest estimate (Estimate 2) was $2,599,560,000.00. So I was -5.4% off. Not too bad? You bet.
In fact, my budget estimate was worse, $400 mil estimated vs. IMDB's reported $356 mil estimated budget, so guessing a higher budget helped get me to a higher number.
If I had the patience and time to collect more data, I'd like to think my estimate would be closer, but 5% is not too bad. With all the records that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has broken, I think a higher number was probably warranted in 20/20 hindsight.
Doing this again, I would have considered Trailer Video Views and Pre-ticket sales.
